On September 24, 2021,partners of the ANAM WASH initiative held a virtual meeting primarily to discuss and validate the findings of the Mid-Term Assessment of the WASH Master Plan implementation which was conducted by an independent consultant.
Participant at the virtual meeting included the District Chief Executive of the Asutifi North District (Hon. Anthony Mensah), Senior Programme Officer of Conrad Hilton Foundation (Mrs. Magdalene Matthews Ofori-Kuma), Country Director of IRC Ghana (Mrs. Vida Duti), and over 18 others drawn from the District Assembly, Safe Water Network, Aquaya Institute, IRC Ghana/Global, Conrad Hilton Foundation, World Vision International, Center for Disease Control (USA), and ENVICOM Corporation.
On behalf of the team of consultants that conducted the Mid-Term Assessment of the WASH Master Plan, Mr.Alhassan Hudi presented findings from the assessment. In his submission he concluded that the ANAM initiative has contributed to: improving capacity of water management teams and service providers, CLTS implementation is progressing steadily, infrastructure for WASH in schools and health facilities improving, increasing investments and joint financing for WASH, improving community participation in WASH, reducing duplication and enhancing planning and implementation, enhanced potential for scaling and strengthening capacity of the District Assembly.
Mrs. Magdalene Matthew Ofori-Kuma and Hon. Anthony Mensah both expressed their delight with the level of progress achieved so far, and the former added that the Conrad Hilton Foundation within the next five years is committed to continuing its work in Ghana with a stronger emphasis around integration of safely managed water services. Each partner subsequently presented updates on the progress of their work since January 2021.
