Aquaya is launching a short-term subsidy initiative with the goal of covering the cost of water treatment for community members in the Asutifi North District in order to support the Government Free Water Policy and initiatives to encourage the consumption of healthy water. Aquaya has made discounted Aquatabs available to WSMTs and Water Kiosks (community selling stations) as part of the campaign for purchase by water customers. This was done to make sure that local residents could easily obtain and buy Aquatabs to purify their drinking water. The subsidy programme made sure that residents of the neighbourhood paid less than 17% of the total cost of the Aqua Tabs that were given to them for the water purification process.
The subsidy scheme had provided 19 boxes of Aquatabs to 15 community sale points (Water Kiosks) in six areas as of December 31, 2020. Panaba, Agravi, Gambia No. 2, Ntotroso, Kenyasi, and Kensere are among these communities.
Due to implementation issues in the district with the government’s Free Water Project, which was supposed to finish in December 2020, Aquaya’s two-month initiative was extended past that date into January 2021. In the month of February 2021 as well, Aquaya plans to keep providing Water Kiosks with subsidised Aqua Tabs.
