The Asutifi North District Assembly in collaboration with the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) and European Union (EU) is implementing a project titled: “Building Local Entrepreneurial Skills to Support the Rural Poor for Sustainable Economic Self-Reliance”. The project aims to support the entrepreneurial skills of women, youth and Persons with disabilities (PWDs) within the District especially in the mining-affected communities.
Prior to the implementation of the project, a team undertook a baseline survey to identify the skill sets that are of interest to the local people and also constructed training facilities to serve as the skills training centres for the beneficiaries who will benefit from the skill training programs.
The project through National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI had trained 100 beneficiaries on soap and detergent making, welding and fabrication; the first batch comprised 40 and 60 for the second batch. The trainees had also been adequately resourced to set up their own businesses and train at least three additional people.
