The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in collaboration with the Presidency organized a tree planting exercise christened ‘’Green Ghana Day’’ held on 9th June 2023. Thereafter, the government directed all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies through the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development to adopt the policy and plant trees accordingly.
The Asutifi North District Assembly organized the tree planting at the District capital, Kenyasi. The tree planting led by the District Chief Executive, the Coordinating Director, a representative from the Forestry Commission, Head of Department including VRA/NEDCO, Prison Service, Fire Service and among others.
In furtherance to that, there were two areas selected for the tree planting i.e. district assembly premises and the district hospital premises. The District Chief Executive expressed his profound appreciation to all and sundry who participated in making the program a success. He called on participants to embrace it as part of life as there is an adage that “when the last tree dies the last man dies”. He further implored participants not to involve in deforestation.
In conclusion the program was successfully and enthusiasm was good. The participants urged the authorities to organize the program regularly.
