As part of the responsibilities of the Veterinary Services Unit in the District, a puppy vaccination exercise was undertaken on 30th September, 2026 at the Department of Agriculture.
The exercise formed part of the Unit’s routine veterinary activities aimed at protecting domestic animals from preventable diseases and promoting responsible animal health management within the District.
During the exercise, puppies presented by their owners were examined by veterinary personnel before vaccination.
The vaccination exercise was important in preventing the occurrence and spread of infectious diseases among dogs within the District. Regular vaccination contributes significantly to maintaining a healthy animal population and reducing the risk of diseases that may have implications for public health.
The exercise also provided an opportunity for the Veterinary Services Unit to interact directly with animal owners and educate them on responsible pet ownership.
The exercise was successfully conducted with the participation of puppy owners who brought their animals to the Department of Agriculture for vaccination.
The Veterinary Services Unit used the opportunity to reinforce the importance of regular vaccination, proper feeding, sanitation, deworming and timely veterinary attention whenever animals show signs of illness.
The Veterinary Services Unit will continue to undertake routine vaccination, disease surveillance, public education and other veterinary interventions to improve animal health and support the well-being of communities within the District.
