The Asutifi North District Assembly held a stakeholders’ engagement with representatives of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) concerning the registration of commercial vehicles and the payment of daily tolls at the Ntotroso Lorry Station.
The engagement was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Assembly and transport operators and ensuring compliance with the Assembly’s revenue mobilization requirements.
During the engagement, the Assembly explained the importance of registering vehicles operating from the lorry station and ensuring that the applicable daily tolls are paid regularly.
Representatives of the GPRTU were encouraged to educate their members on their obligations and to cooperate with the Assembly’s revenue collectors. The stakeholders also discussed the need for an effective system to monitor registered vehicles and ensure that daily toll payments are properly recorded.
The GPRTU representatives expressed their willingness to collaborate with the Assembly in ensuring compliance while also bringing the concerns of transport operators to the attention of Management for consideration.
The Assembly looks forward to continued collaboration with GPRTU and other stakeholders to improve revenue mobilization, ensure compliance and promote effective management of the lorry station.
