On Tuesday, 2nd December 2025, a joint clean-up exercise was carried out across all the electoral areas in the Asutifi North District. The exercise was organised collaboratively by Nananom and the Asutifi North District Assembly as part of their collective efforts to improve environmental sanitation, promote public health, and strengthen community participation in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene-related initiatives.
The activity formed part of the district’s commitment to sustaining cleanliness, preventing sanitation-related diseases, and reinforcing the partnership between traditional authorities and local government institutions.
The clean-up exercise recorded active participation from key stakeholders and community groups, including: Nananom (Traditional Leaders) of Kenyasi No. 1 and No. 2, Officials of the Asutifi North District Assembly, the Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Police service, Ghana Prisons Service, Assembly Members, Unit Committee, GPRRU, Artisan, ANAM WASH team and Community Members.
The active involvement of Nananom played a significant role in mobilizing community members and promoting commitment to the exercise. The following activities were carried out; Sweeping of streets and public spaces, Desilting of drains and gutters, Weeding and removal of overgrown vegetation and Collection and disposal of waste at designated sites
In conclusion, the clean-up exercise at the entire district was highly successful and participatory.
