On 20th February 2024, the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA) conducted a training program for young entrepreneurs in the Asutifi North District. The initiative aimed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with essential skills, knowledge, and resources to start and manage successful businesses. This program is part of the GEA’s broader efforts to promote youth entrepreneurship, stimulate local economic growth, and reduce unemployment among young people in the district.
The training took place at the Asutifi North District Assembly Hall and brought together young entrepreneurs, business consultants, local government officials, and representatives from the GEA.
The first session focused on the fundamentals of business planning, including how to develop a viable business idea, conduct market research, and create a solid business plan. Participants learned about identifying target markets, understanding customer needs, and positioning their businesses for success.
This session covered key aspects of financial management, such as budgeting, cash flow management, bookkeeping, and accessing financial support. Trainers emphasized the importance of financial discipline and record-keeping in running a successful business.
Participants were introduced to essential marketing concepts, including branding, digital marketing, customer engagement, and sales strategies. The session provided practical tips on how to effectively promote products and services, reach new customers, and build a strong brand presence.
A segment of the training was dedicated to business ethics and the importance of excellent customer service. Participants learned about building trust with customers, maintaining high standards of integrity, and creating a positive customer experience.
The training included interactive workshops where participants worked in groups to develop business ideas, create mock business plans, and present their concepts to the trainers and fellow participants. These activities allowed participants to apply what they had learned and receive feedback from experts.
A Q&A session allowed participants to seek clarification on various aspects of the training and share their thoughts on the challenges they face as young entrepreneurs. Trainers provided tailored advice and encouraged the participants to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions with confidence.
