On 24th September 2026 Newmont Gold Ghana Limited, Ahafo South, formally handed over one refuse truck and 20 skip containers to the Asutifi North District Assembly and one Toyota Hilux pickup truck to the Asutifi North District Hospital at a brief ceremony held on 24th September 2026 at the Newmont Ahafo South Mine Plant Site.
The ceremony was attended by Nananom, representatives of the Asutifi North District Assembly, the District Health Directorate, Newmont Gold Ghana Limited, Ahafo South, and other stakeholders.
The support formed part of the continued collaboration between Newmont Gold Ghana Limited, the Asutifi North District Assembly, traditional authorities, health institutions and other stakeholders towards addressing developmental needs and improving the wellbeing of communities within the company’s operational area.
Speaking on behalf of the District Chief Executive, Hon. Hafiz Dauda Dabeil, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Abdul Aziz Gafaru, expressed appreciation to Newmont Gold Ghana Limited for providing the refuse truck and 20 skip containers.
He noted that the equipment would significantly enhance the Assembly’s capacity to collect and transport refuse to the designated disposal site and contribute to improved environmental sanitation across the District.
Mr. Gafaru stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between Newmont and the Assembly in addressing developmental challenges and appealed to the company to continue supporting initiatives that benefited communities within the District.
On his part, the District Director of Health Services, Dr. Bryan A. Sienso, also expressed appreciation to Newmont for donating the Toyota Hilux pickup truck to the Asutifi North District Hospital.
He described the donation as timely, explaining that the vehicle would support the hospital’s operational activities and facilitate the delivery of health services to communities within the District.
Dr. Sienso disclosed that the donation was the second pickup truck provided by Newmont to support health service delivery in the District. He expressed gratitude to the company for its continued support and appealed for further collaboration towards strengthening healthcare delivery.
Representatives of Newmont Gold Ghana Limited, including the Country Director and General Manager, Mr. Danquah Addo-Yobo, and Ing. Alex Kofi Annin, highlighted the importance of supporting initiatives that contributed to the development and wellbeing of communities within the company’s operational area.
They emphasised the need for continued collaboration among Newmont, the District Assembly, traditional authorities, health institutions and other stakeholders to address developmental, environmental and social concerns within the area.
They expressed the hope that the donated equipment would be put to good use and properly maintained to ensure that it provided sustainable benefits to the people of Asutifi North.
The Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Joseph Frimpong Naayo of the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council, who represented the Ahafo Regional Minister, commended Newmont Gold Ghana Limited for the support.
He urged the receiving institutions to ensure that the equipment was used for its intended purposes and maintained regularly to prolong its lifespan and maximise its benefits to the people.
He further thanked Newmont for its contribution to development in the Ahafo Region and appealed for continued support towards addressing developmental needs within the region.
The Ntotrosomanhene, Nana Twereko Ampem, who chaired the ceremony, underscored the important role of traditional authorities in promoting development, environmental sanitation and the wellbeing of communities.
He commended the partnership between Newmont Gold Ghana Limited, the Asutifi North District Assembly, traditional authorities and other stakeholders, noting that such collaboration was essential to addressing the developmental needs of the District.
The participation of Nananom and other stakeholders further demonstrated the collective commitment of traditional authorities, development partners and public institutions towards improving the living conditions of communities within the Asutifi North District.
The Asutifi North District Assembly expressed its appreciation to Newmont Gold Ghana Limited, Ahafo South, for the continued partnership and support towards improving environmental sanitation, healthcare delivery and sustainable development within the District.
The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the donated equipment was put to its intended use and maintained appropriately to deliver lasting benefits to the people of Asutifi North.
