The Asutifi North District on Tuesday, 8th September 2026, joined districts across the country to observe the annual “My First Day at School” programme; an initiative aimed at welcoming school children entering Kindergarten for the first time, as well as pupils beginning their formal education at Basic One.
As part of the programme, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Hafiz Dauda Dabeil, together with the District Director of Education, Mrs. Asantewaa Naomi and officials from the Asutifi North District Assembly and the Ghana Education Directorate, visited selected schools in the district to interact with and encourage first-time school entrants.
The schools visited included Kodiwohia D/A Basic School, Dokyikrom D/A Basic School, and Yawukrom D/A Basic School, among others. The visit provided an opportunity for the officials to welcome the young learners into the school environment and encourage them to embrace education with passion and confidence.
The DCE expressed his delight at seeing the children confidently taking their first steps into a new and important phase of their lives. He assured the pupils, teachers and parents of the Assembly’s continued commitment to improving educational infrastructure and creating conducive learning environments across the district. Hon. Hafiz Dauda Dabeil also encouraged the pupils to be attentive in class, respectful to their teachers and colleagues as well as committed to their studies. He reminded them that education remains a strong foundation for personal development and a brighter future.
As part of efforts to motivate the children and make their first experience of school memorable, the DCE presented biscuits and drinks to the pupils, particularly the first-time entrants, as a gesture of encouragement and support.
The “My First Day at School” programme continues to serve as an important initiative in promoting early school enrolment, reducing anxiety among new entrants and encouraging parents and guardians to support their children’s educational journey.
