STAKEHOLDERS’ ENGAGEMENT ON THE BYE-LAWS IN THE ASUTIFI NORTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

On November 4, 2024, the Asutifi North District Assembly organized a stakeholders’ engagement session to discuss and review proposed bye-laws aimed at enhancing local governance and development within the district. The meeting, held at the district’s assembly hall, brought together a diverse group of participants, including traditional authorities, assembly members, representatives from civil society organizations, local business owners, and community members.

The primary objective of this engagement was to ensure that the bylaws reflect the needs and aspirations of the community, promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in the legislative process. Participants were allowed to provide input on various aspects of the proposed regulations, covering areas such as sanitation, local economic development, environmental management, and public health.

The District Co-ordinating Director emphasized the importance of community involvement in the formulation of bylaws, stating that such participatory approaches are crucial for effective governance and the successful implementation of local policies. Feedback and suggestions gathered during the session are expected to be incorporated into the final draft of the bylaws, which will subsequently undergo further review and approval processes. The Solicitor of the Asutifi North District Assembly emphasises the Mining Act and the Agic Act to the Stakeholders.

This engagement aligns with the Asutifi North District Assembly’s commitment to fostering collaborative governance and ensuring that local regulations serve the best interests of its constituents. By involving stakeholders in the legislative process, the assembly aims to enhance compliance and support for the bylaws, ultimately contributing to the district’s socio-economic development.
