In several towns in the district, the distribution of Aquatabs to WSMT continued throughout the month of February. The Aquatabs, which offered an additional layer of defence against water contamination, are still crucial to efforts to ensure that community people may drink safely treated water.
To encourage inhabitants of rural areas including Panaba, Agravi, Gambia No.2, Kensere, and Goatifi to purchase Aquatabs, the Assembly’s trained staff organised in-person community workshops to educate participants on water purification and safety. However, since face-to-face meetings would be difficult to organise in urban centres, community members were sensitised through the use of Community Information Centers.
In the upcoming weeks and months, Aquaya Institute will continue to monitor community members’ use of Aquatabs to see whether or not community members are responding to sensitization activities.
