NCCE SENSITIZATION ON THE UPCOMING ELECTION

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) organized a sensitization program at the Kenyasi Presbyterian Church on 26th November 2024. The event aimed to educate citizens on the electoral process and promote active, peaceful, and informed participation in the upcoming general elections. The program was attended by community members, traditional leaders, religious leaders, youth groups, and representatives from various civil society organizations.

The program commenced with a prayer and an address by Rev. Collins the District NCCE Director, who stressed the importance of civic participation and peaceful elections.

An NCCE officer delivered an interactive presentation covering: The rights of every eligible voter, including the right to vote freely without intimidation, and the responsibilities of voters, such as verifying their registration details and adhering to electoral guidelines.

Traditional and religious leaders spoke on the importance of maintaining peace before, during, and after the elections. Messages emphasized tolerance, respect for diverse opinions, and avoiding acts that could incite violence.

Participants engaged in a lively Q&A session, during which concerns about voter identification cards, polling station locations, and security measures on election day were addressed.

NCCE officers distributed flyers, posters, and handbooks with information on voter education and the importance of peaceful elections.

The program ended with the NCCE’s call to action, urging all eligible voters to exercise their franchise and contribute to free, fair, and peaceful elections. Attendees widely appreciated the event and they left better informed and more confident in their role as voters.
