65TH INDEPENDENCE DAY ANNIVERSARY

The Asutifi North District Assembly on Sunday, 6th March, 2022 observed the 65th Independence on the theme “Working Together, Bouncing Back Better” at Kenyasi No. 1 Anglican Park.

In attendance were the District Chief Executive, Hon. Anthony Mensah, the Member of Parliament, Hon. Patrick Bannor, the District Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Samuel Badu-Baiden, the District Director of Education, Mrs. Naomi Asantewaa, the District Police Commander, Hon. Assembly Members, Nananom from Kenyasi No. 1 Traditional Council, various Head of Departments, Teachers, Personnel from the Security Agencies, the Clergy, Contingents of various Schools, Media among others.

Ghana’s Independence Day marked the end of British rule in 1957 and establishment of a free, sovereign and independence nation.

Addressing the parade, Hon. Anthony Mensah, mentioned that, it will be unpardonable to forget to salute the heroes and heroines, both known and unknown, who fought for Ghana’s independence. He used the opportunity to salute the first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe, Private Odartey-Lamptey, Nii Koblah Bonne and all the other gallant men and women who fought to make it possible for Ghana to celebrate this day.

Touching on the theme, “Working Together, Bouncing Back Better” the DCE indicated that, the theme is not only relevant but also very refreshing. It is a summary of the description of the attributes and values that underpinned our independence. The theme is also a clarion call to awake people to do what is necessary to transform the district and Ghana into a place that would meet hopes and aspirations.

He reiterated that, the global economy is facing difficult challenges and Ghana is struggling to bounce back, which indicated that, nowhere in the world has been declared COVID-19 free yet.

The district chief executive advised school going age to take their studies very serious and be discipline and not to indulged themselves in social vices that has the potential to ruin their future.
