The Asutifi North District Assembly successfully observed the 2026 National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on Wednesday, 1st July, 2026, in line with the Government of Ghana’s directive to promote national unity, peace, and spiritual renewal. The programme was held under the national theme: “Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want.”
The Christian prayer service commenced at 9:00 a.m. at the Fountain Gate Chapel, Kenyasi, while the Muslim prayer session was held at 11:30 a.m. at the Kenyasi No. 1 Central Mosque.
The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including the District Coordinating Director, Heads of Departments and Units of the Assembly, representatives of security agencies, traditional authorities, various Christian church leaders, Muslim community leaders, civil servants, and members of the general public.
During the Christian service, ministers of the gospel led the congregation in prayers for God’s guidance, wisdom, peace, and protection for the nation. Special prayers were offered for the President, government officials, traditional leaders, security services, and all citizens. The clergy also encouraged participants to uphold honesty, integrity, patriotism, and unity as essential values for national development.
Following the Christian service, the Muslim prayer session was held at the Kenyasi No. 1 Central Mosque. The Chief Imam and other Muslim leaders offered prayers for peace, unity, good governance, and continued prosperity for Ghana. They emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance, moral discipline, and collective responsibility in nation-building.
In his remarks, the District Chief Executive represented by the District Coordinating Director expressed appreciation to both the Christian and Muslim communities for their commitment to praying for the nation. He noted that the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving serves as a reminder that national development requires not only effective leadership but also divine guidance, unity, and the active participation of all citizens. He urged residents of the district to continue living in peace and to support initiatives that promote development within the Asutifi North District.
The programme concluded successfully with prayers of thanksgiving for the peace and stability Ghana continues to enjoy and renewed commitments from participants to contribute positively towards the development of the nation and the Asutifi North District.
