On Thursday, 9th April, 2026, the Asutifi North District Assembly held a Budget Committee meeting at the District Assembly Hall in collaboration with Livelihood and Environment Ghana. The meeting was organized to deliberate on key budgetary issues and strategies to enhance sustainable development within the district.
The objectives of the meeting were to: Review the Assembly’s budget performance, Discuss strategies for improving internally generated funds (IGF), Integrate livelihood and environmental sustainability into the district’s budget planning, Strengthen collaboration between the Assembly and development partners and Identify priority areas for funding and intervention.
The meeting was attended by: Members of the Budget Committee, District Coordinating Director, Heads of Departments/Units, Representatives from Livelihood and Environment Ghana and Other key stakeholders.
The following issues were discussed during the meeting: Budget Performance Review: Assessment of revenue and expenditure trends, Revenue Mobilization: Measures to improve IGF and reduce leakages, Environmental Sustainability: Incorporating climate-resilient and environmentally friendly initiatives into the budget, Livelihood Support Programmes: Strategies to improve income-generating activities for residents and Partnership and Collaboration: Enhancing cooperation between the Assembly and development organizations.
It was observed that there is a need to strengthen revenue collection mechanisms, Budget allocations should prioritize critical sectors such as health, education, and infrastructure, Environmental concerns must be integrated into all development planning processes and Collaboration with development partners is essential for achieving sustainable development goals.
The committee decided that the Assembly must intensify efforts to improve internally generated revenue, Environmental and livelihood considerations will be mainstreamed into future budgets, Regular stakeholder engagements will be organized to ensure inclusive planning and Monitoring and evaluation systems will be strengthened to track budget implementation.
The meeting was successful and provided a platform for constructive discussions on improving the district’s budgeting process. The collaboration with Livelihood and Environment Ghana was highly beneficial, particularly in aligning development planning with sustainability goals.
