ELECTION OF PRESIDING MEMBER

On Wednesday, 8th April, 2026, the Asutifi North District Assembly conducted an election to select a new Presiding Member at the District Assembly Hall. This followed the expiration of the tenure of the former Presiding Member, Hon. Nnuro Ameyaw.

The position of Presiding Member became vacant upon the completion of the mandated term of office of Hon. Nnuro Ameyaw. In accordance with the Assembly’s regulations and electoral procedures, arrangements were made for the election of a new Presiding Member.

The nomination process was supervised by the Electoral Commission at the District Office. Hon. Issaka Bawa was the only candidate who successfully picked up, completed, and submitted the nomination forms within the stipulated time.

As a result, Hon. Issaka Bawa stood unopposed in the election.

The election was conducted at the District Assembly Hall in the presence of Assembly Members and officials from the Electoral Commission. Although Hon. Issaka Bawa was the sole candidate, voting was conducted in accordance with the required procedures.

up Of the 39 Members present, Hon. Issaka Bawa receivedup, completed, and submitted the nomination forms 36 “Yes” votes and 2 “No” votes. Having secured the required two-thirds (2/3) majority, he was duly elected as the Presiding Member of the Assembly.

The election process was successfully conducted, leading to the confirmation of Hon. Issaka Bawa as the new Presiding Member of the Asutifi North District Assembly. The Assembly expressed confidence in his leadership and pledged support for the effective discharge of his duties.
