On 9th June, 2026 the National DRIP Co-ordinator and his Monitoring Team paid a working visit to the District to assess the implementation and progress of activities under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP). The visit formed part of the national monitoring exercise aimed at evaluating the utilization of DRIP equipment, the status of ongoing road improvement works, and the challenges affecting implementation at the district level.
objectives of the visit were to Monitor the utilization and condition of DRIP equipment assigned to the District, Assess the progress of road improvement and maintenance activities, Interact with district officials and operators of the DRIP equipment, Identify implementation challenges and provide technical guidance, and Ensure compliance with operational and maintenance standards.
Upon arrival, the National DRIP Co-ordinator and his team held a brief meeting with the District Chief Executive, District Coordinating Director, DRIP Co-ordinator, District Engineer, and other key stakeholders.
The team inspected the DRIP equipment stationed in the District and assessed their operational condition. They also visited selected project sites where road reshaping and maintenance works were being undertaken. During the inspection, the team interacted with equipment operators and beneficiaries to obtain first-hand information on the impact of the programme.
The monitoring team observed that, The DRIP equipment assigned to the District were generally in good working condition, the District had commenced road improvement activities in several communities, Significant progress had been made in improving access roads, particularly in farming communities, Proper maintenance procedures were being followed to ensure the longevity of the machinery,
However, some challenges identified included, the need for periodic servicing and replacement of some worn-out parts.
The National DRIP Co-ordinator recommended that, The District should continue to ensure proper maintenance and security of all DRIP equipment, Regular monitoring and supervision of road improvement works should be intensified, Adequate resources should be mobilized to support fuel and maintenance requirements, Stakeholders should continue to collaborate to maximize the benefits of the programme.
