The president of the Republic His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo launched the community mining at the Wasa-Akropong in the western region on
24th July, 2019 to formalized mining in the selected district across the country. He emphasized that mining must be done in the right way.
On 31st August, 2022 the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Hon. George Mireku Duker, the member of Parliament for Asutifi North Hon. Patrick Bannor, the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. George Boakye, the DCE of Asutifi north district Hon. Anthony Mensah and the Omanhene of Kenyasi No.1 Nana Osei kofi Abiriw joined hands in launching of the community mining at Kenyasi No.1.
Hon. Mireku Duker presented a mercury free machine to help community in extraction of Gold.
