The Asutifi North District Assembly, World Vision International, and IRC launched the first phase of a new project that will provide sanitation and hygiene services to a number of difficult-to-reach communities and schools in the district. The Latter-day Saints Charity is funding the one-year project, which is due to be completed within a year.
Through this project, the implementing partners (IRC, WVI, and ANDA) and the project financier LDSC seeks to build the capacity of thirty district officials and seventy-five service providers and stakeholders in the Asutifi North district while developing WASH infrastructure in five schools, five rural communities, and sixty households.
One concrete tower, a solar farm, plumbing supplies, and a standpipe to feed two schools are among the infrastructure that is anticipated to be built. Additionally, five schools would be equipped with permanent handwashing stations, 6-seater KVIPs, auxiliary amenities, and a changing area for girls. Additionally, the initiative would drill boreholes in some schools.
