The Asutifi North District Assembly on Friday, 2nd December, 2022 commemorate the 38th Farmers’ day celebration on the theme “Accelerating Agriculture Development through value addition” at Gyedu a suburb of Ntotroso. The District Assembly co-hosted the Regional celebration.
In attendance were the Regional Minister, Officers from the regional coordinating council, Minister, District Chief Executive, Hon. Anthony Mensah, the Member of Parliament, Hon. Patrick Bannor, the District Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Samuel Badu-Baiden, the District Police Commander, Hon. Assembly Members, Nananom from Kenyasi No. 1 Traditional Council, various Head of Departments, Personnel from the Security Agencies, the Clergy, farmers, Media among others.
Farmers day celebration as instituted under the JJ Rawlings regime to award hard working farmers for their dedicated service to the nation. Since then, the first Friday of every December, is dedicated to observe the day.
Farmers displayed various farm produce such as cocoa pods, rice, plantain, cocoyam, among others. Also on display were livestock such as goats, fowls etc.
A total of 3 tricycles was awarded to hard working farmers, cutlass, knapsack spraying machines, bicycles, wellington boot among other.
At the end of the ceremony, Mr. Yakubu Halid from Ntotroso emerged the district best farmer. He was awarded a tricycle and other farm inputs. Mr. Isaac Biriamah from Kenyasi No.1 was adjudged the second best with Mr. John Gyebi from Wamahinso being the third best.
