On 11th June 2024, the Center for Democratic Development (CDD) Ghana evaluated governance, accountability, and service delivery in the Asutifi North District Assembly. The evaluation aimed to assess the effectiveness of local governance practices, citizen participation, and the implementation of key development projects within the district. The event brought together representatives from CDD Ghana, the District Assembly, local government officials, community leaders, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.
CDD Ghana, a leading non-governmental organization focused on promoting democracy, good governance, and inclusive development in Ghana, undertakes such evaluations to provide independent assessments and recommendations that can help improve governance at the local level.
The evaluation began with an opening session where the District Co-ordinating Director (DCD) welcomed the CDD Ghana team and other participants. The DCD highlighted the Assembly’s commitment to good governance and its openness to external evaluations that can provide insights for improvement.
The lead evaluator from CDD Ghana provided an overview of the evaluation process, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the Assembly, community members, and other stakeholders in achieving the objectives of the assessment. CDD Ghana conducted a thorough assessment of governance and accountability practices within the District Assembly. This involved reviewing internal policies, procedures, and documentation related to decision-making processes, financial management, and public accountability.
The CDD Ghana evaluation of the Asutifi North District Assembly on 11th June 2024 provided valuable insights into the governance, accountability, and service delivery landscape of the district. While the evaluation identified several strengths, including established governance structures and efforts to engage citizens, it also highlighted key areas for improvement.
By implementing the recommendations provided, the Asutifi North District Assembly can enhance its effectiveness in delivering services, engaging citizens, and promoting good governance.
